The Wayward Wind

“The Wayward Wind” is a song sung by Patsy Cline in 1961. The meaning of the word “wayward” is wanting to have one’s own way regardless of the wishes or good of others; being capricious, erratic, or unpredictable.

In the Bible, many characters that we read about become resistant to guidance, disobedient to God’s Word, perverse and willful in their ungodly conduct.

In Scripture, the Old Testament priest would understand the waywardness of others because of his own short comings, as this verse points out.

Hebrews 5:2

He can deal gently with the ignorant and wayward, since He Himself is beset with weakness.

However, we now have a High Priest who is sinless and has become the perfect sacrifice for our wayward patterns.

2 Corinthians 5:21

For our sake He made Him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God.

Give it some thought.
