“City of New Orleans” is a nostalgic folk elegy. It is about the last trip of a passenger train. The song is about what was and will be missed. Many of us relate to that feeling of being on the last leg of a journey that will never be repeated.
We can’t hang on to the things of this world, because they are only transitory. There must be more to look forward to than the vaporing memories of the past. Only God offers this means of changing your mood when you’re faced with that reality.
But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.
Everything of the past pales in the light of the future for the believer. Give it some consideration.
