Love can’t be bought and it can’t be sold. Someone said, “MRI scans indicate that love lights up the pleasure center of the brain. Love is just a brain juice with the emotion of attachment.” Can’t say I agree with that, but if so, the juice can dry up quickly. Now here is real love.

So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him.

Can’t beat that kind of love, and it’s available for everyone. Give it some thought.

In the war of 1812, Old Hickory, with his toughness and durability, lived up to his nickname when he led his men into battle against the British. Men like that, although of dubious character at times, helped make life easier for succeeding generations.

We read the exploits of Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and a host of other Bible characters and see some admirable traits in them, as well. Truth of the matter is, the only perfect man that ever existed was Christ. Thankfully, He became the perfect sacrifice for our sins.

History, whether secular or Biblical, needs to be studied. Examples are necessary for our lives.

1 Corinthians 10:11

Now all these things happened to them as examples, and they were written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the ages have come.

1 Peter 5:3

nor as being lords over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock;

He’s old and gray. What does he know about life?  It’s our turn to take the wheel, time for a younger generation to take over.  “Don’t trust anyone over sixty.” was the mantra of the sixties. However, the Word of God puts a different view on age.

So even to old age and gray hairs, O God, do not forsake me, until I proclaim Your might to another generation, Your power to all those to come.
