Watchman

“I thought this night would never end” is a statement following a terrible ordeal that keeps you awake all night. You believe when the day breaks healing will start and a new light will shine. If you’ve been on this planet any length of time, you can relate to such an experience.

Isaiah had that emotion when the Assyrians were about to invade and destroy the country. I’m sure that he wondered, How is this going to play out? What’s our future?

Isaiah 21:11–12

“Watchman, what of the night? Watchman, what of the night?”
The watchman said, “The morning comes, and also the night.”

You want answers? Read the Bible. Give it some thought.

Shysters

This was a heading in an American newspaper:

Billionaire televangelist slashes price on $14.6M Florida condo amid scrutiny over church wealth.

Now if that wouldn’t cause scrutiny, what would? Does the Bible address such a thing? Glad you asked.

2 Corinthians 11:13-15

For such men are false apostles, deceitful workmen, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ. And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. So it is no surprise if his servants, also, disguise themselves as servants of righteousness. Their end will correspond to their deeds.

It is clear whom these shysters are working for, but what about the ones who support them? Give it some consideration.

Hardness

I hear it often, the hardness of people towards God. Just listen to these statements: What weather are they giving us today? Why does God allow this to happen?

During the Great Tribulation when the world is literally falling apart, instead of turning to God, people alive at that time would rather die in their sin.

Revelation 6:16

and said to the mountains and rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the face of Him who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb!

They should be calling to the Rock of our Salvation. Sadly, this will not be the case of a hard heart, even then.

Give it some thought while it is called today.

Hebrews 3:15

while it is said: “Today, if you will hear His voice, do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion.”

Gardner Island

Looking at that island that has my last name triggers my imagination. My ancestors came up that river after leaving Canada, but I wonder why they built there.  It was a beautiful spot, but when spring came and the water rose carrying ice along with it, that must have been hair raising. Their bodies lie on the far shore in a cemetery I’ve never laid eyes on. The past is interesting but holds no attraction. My eyes now are towards the future with all its benefits.

John 14:2

In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you?

Revelation 21:4

He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.”

Can’t wait to get home! Give it some thought.

Debonair

The English translated the phrase from the New Testament Koine Greek as “blessed be the meek.” Leave it to the French to translate it more accurately, “blessed be the debonair.”  That word means confident, stylish, and charming. I like that. Give it some thought and thank the French for widening our understanding.

Psalm 27:3

Though an army encamp against me, my heart shall not fear; though war arise against me, yet I will be confident.

Philippians 1:6

And I am confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.

Angels

These heavenly beings are all around us, but we don’t look for them. Unlike us, obedience is their constant. They work for and worship God perfectly, which is not our experience. We will never become one, contrary to what some stinkers, I mean thinkers, believe and teach. However, these beings serve us in ways that are mostly unappreciated.

Hebrews 13:2

Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.

Hebrews 1:14

Are they not all ministering spirits sent out to serve for the sake of those who are to inherit salvation?

Please don’t call me an angel because it embarrasses me and is certainly an offence to them. Give it some thought.

Ask Me

I was at Wal-Mart one time and I couldn’t find what I was looking for. I approached an employee who had a shirt on with the words, “Ask me” emblazoned on the back.  However, when I asked her, it was evident that she really didn’t want to be bothered.

I’ve witnessed some professing Christians acting like that. Do you know we are supposed to have an answer for anyone that asks us a question?

I Peter 3:15

But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear.

I Timothy 6:18

Let them do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to give, willing to share,

Don’t advertise something you’re not capable of providing. Give it some thought.
