A man was once boasting to an acquaintance, “We have a whole room full of furniture from France that goes back to Louis the 14th.”

“That’s nothing,” replied the other. “We’ve got a whole house full of furniture from Sears that goes back to Harry on the first.”

Many just don’t seem to understand a basic principle: You can’t be spending more than you make. Does the Bible address this phenomenon? Glad you asked.

The rich rules over the poor, and the borrower is the slave of the lender.

“Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. Won’t you first sit down and estimate the cost to see if you have enough money to complete it?

I’d rather live without furniture than go through the embarrassment of giving it back.
