Want

It was a song by the Rolling Stones and released in 1969. The title was “You Can’t Always Get What You Want.” Fifty-five years later, old Mick can still belt it out. We all identified with it.  The American industrial complex feeds off the urge to have more.

You can’t always get what you want, but sometimes you get what you deserve. The Bible refers to it as sowing and reaping.

Galatians 6:7

Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap

Proverbs 22:8

Whoever sows injustice will reap calamity, and the rod of his fury will fail.

Hosea 8:7

For they sow the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind.

Give it some thought the next time you go out to the field of want to sow something.

Your Salon

Can I have the name of your hair salon? I need to know where not to go.

Insults –  they are a part of the fabric of life. Sometimes you are the cause and sometimes you are the recipient. Does the Bible address it? Glad you asked.

Proverbs 12:16

The vexation of a fool is known at once, but the prudent ignores an insult.

Proverbs 12:18

There is one whose rash words are like sword thrusts, but the tongue of the wise brings healing.

Proverbs 11:12

Whoever belittles his neighbor lacks sense, but a man of understanding remains silent.

Give it some thought the next time you think it’s going to be funny.

What You Should Know #6

Do you know a giraffe cleans its ears with its tongue?

Do you know that the hummingbird is the only bird that can fly backwards?

We are not likely to encounter too many giraffes in our lifetime, but consider this:

Do you know what men who are persuaded by the Holy Spirit’s inner workings through the Word of God can be empowered to do?

2 Timothy 1:12

For this reason, I also suffer these things; nevertheless, I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him until that Day.

This was said by Paul the apostle who was later beheaded.  Suffering cannot divorce one from salvation. As a matter of fact, suffering may come as a result of salvation.

Give it some thought.

What You Should Know #5

Do you know 40% of human jobs could be replaced by AI in the future?

Do you know that the average person will sleep 25 years in a lifetime?

Here’s something to really consider:

Do you know that a man is not justified by the works of the law?

Galatians 2:16

knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law but by faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, that we might be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law; for by the works of the law no flesh shall be justified.

Sadly, though you work at salvation as hard as you can, you’ll never make it. God provided a better way.

Give it some thought.

What You Should Know #4

Do you know that the filling in Kit Kats is made from damaged Kit Kats?

Do you know Fruit Loops are all the same flavor?

Again, we could finish life well without knowing the above, but we need to ponder such a wonderful love that motivated our Savior.

Do you know that though He was rich Christ became poor so that we could become rich?

2 Corinthians 8:9

For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that you through His poverty might become rich.

Forget junk food and junk science this is real information.

Give it some thought.

What You Should Know! #3

Did you know lobsters have clear blood?

Do you know that lobsters taste with their feet?

The first two questions could be considered useless information, but this next one is critical.

Do you know that your body can be the temple of the living God?

1 Corinthians 3:16

Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?

Don’t be thinking of lobster.  Consider that your body can be a temple where God dwells.

Give it some thought.

Do you know all things work together for good to them who love God?

Romans 8:28

And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.

Not all things are good, but all things can work together for good. You need to know this.

Give it some thought.
