Hearing

Patient: Doctor, I have a serious memory problem. I can’t remember anything.

Doctor: So, since when did you have this problem?

Patient: What problem?

Do you have trouble remembering what you hear? Does the Bible address it? Glad you asked.

Matthew 11:15

He who has ears to hear, let him hear.

Luke 11:28

But He said, “Blessed rather are those who hear the Word of God and keep it!”

Do you believe and act on what spiritual ears hear? Give it some thought.

The Mind

Patient: Doctor, what does the x-ray of my head show?

Doctor: Absolutely nothing!

That’s bad news because we need something in there to function in life, but what is in there? Does the Bible address this? Glad you asked.

Isaiah 26:3

You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.

1 Peter 5:8

Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.

Psalm 119:15

I will meditate on Your precepts and fix my eyes on Your ways.

Don’t be out of your mind; keep it healthy with good thoughts.

Be You

I don’t know where this quote came from, but it sure hit the nail on the head.

“Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don’t matter, and those who matter don’t mind.”

This can help us stay between the lines as we drive this vehicle through life. We create friends and enemies along the drive and neither can be helped.

Proverbs 17:17

A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.

Psalm 57:6

They set a net for my steps; my soul was bowed down. They dug a pit in my way, but they have fallen into it themselves. Selah

The soldier who clears the landmines so others can be safe is to be honored.

Existence

How many come to the final chapter of their lives and realize they have squandered their existence? Why do we exist? Is it for our own purposes, faulty evolution or placed here by a Creator for His purposes? This needs some careful consideration. Does the Bible address this? Glad you asked.

Genesis 1:27

So God created man in His own image,

in the image of God he created him;

male and female He created them.

Isaiah 43:7

everyone who is called by My name,

whom I created for My glory,

whom I formed and made.”

Romans 8:29

For those whom He foreknew He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, in order that He might be the firstborn among many brothers.

It’s about Him, not about you.

His Hand

He’s Got the Whole World in His Hands” is a traditional African-American spiritual, first published in 1927. It became an international pop hit in 1957–58 in a recording by British singer Laurie London, which is one of the best-selling gospel songs of all time.

Does the Bible mention being in His hands? Glad you asked.

John 13:3

Jesus, knowing that the Father had given all things into His hands, and that He had come from God and was going to God,

John 10:27-29

My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand.

Are you in His hand? Give it some thought.

Relationships

Those relationships that put fire in our soul can’t be lauded enough. It has been stated as such: Humans need meaningful relationships because they are essential for mental, physical, and emotional well-being, for they provide support, joy, and a sense of belonging, and contribute to increased longevity, better health outcomes, and personal growth.

It is best described in Scripture.

1 Samuel 18:1

As soon as he had finished speaking to Saul, the soul of Jonathan was knit to the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as his own soul.

Proverbs 27:17

Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another.

Those people who encourage, defend, promote and love us unconditionally are a godsend. Thank Him for them.

Give it some consideration.

Too Late

I Don’t Remember Loving You” typically refers to John Conlee’s 1982 country song, where the lyrics revolve around a man who has lost his memory and is unable to recall his past love or suffering due to his lover’s infidelities.  It portrays a man driven to insanity or extreme heartbreak.  The object of his anguish shows up to apologize for the heartache, but her husband’s mind is no longer there.

Lesson: Life is short and the consequences for certain actions can be irreparable.

Galatians 6:7-8

Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap. For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life.

Isaiah 59:2

But your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, and your sins have hidden His face from you so that He does not hear.

Country music often contains more wisdom than much contemporary Christian music.

Give it some thought.
