Foreign Music

If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music which he hears, however measured or far away.

-Henry David Thoreau

Henry tells us if we hear something from far away, we should walk in step to it. Now I can handle his poetry, but not his philosophy. The reason for that is because of my age and time in the Word. Here are some bad actors to prove my point.

2 Timothy 4:10

For Demas, in love with this present world, has deserted me and gone to Thessalonica.

2 Timothy 4:14

Alexander the coppersmith did me great harm; the Lord will repay him according to his deeds.

Mark 4:19

but the cares of the world and the deceitfulness of riches and the desires for other things enter in and choke the word, and it proves unfruitful.

No, I’d be careful of that foreign music. Remember the Pied Piper.

 Give it some thought.
