A distraught senior citizen phoned her doctor’s office. “Is it true,” she wanted to know, “that the medication you prescribed has to be taken for the rest of my life?”
“‘Yes, I’m afraid so,”‘ the doctor told her.
There was a moment of silence before the senior lady replied, “I’m wondering, then, just how serious is my condition because this prescription is marked ‘NO REFILLS’…”
Reality can be humorous to some, but when faced with it, sobriety kicks in. I once knew an ER doctor who would ask patients if they were ready to die. Most were not. I still wonder about his timing.
What does the Scripture say?
Ezekiel 18:32
For I take no pleasure in the death of anyone, declares the Sovereign Lord. Repent and live!
Luke 23:46
For we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands.
The day is coming when there will be no refills.
Give it some thought.
