Standing on the Summit

We were two men standing on the summit of Mount Katahdin, looking at the glorious vista. I was in my forties, and he was in his seventies, strangers talking about a place we both loved.  With pain in his voice, he said, “This is my last climb.”

Now I’m in my seventies, and many times I’ve said to myself, “This is the last time.” How many “last times” will I say before the ultimate “last time?”

Does the Bible address this? Glad you asked.

Psalm 39:4

“Lord, make me to know my end and what is the extent of my days; let me know how transient I am.

1 Chronicles 29:15

For we are sojourners before You, and tenants, as all our fathers were; our days on the earth are like a shadow, and there is no hope.

After this last climb is over, I’m going to experience a breathtaking view of glory. How about you? Give it some consideration.
