Dreams

Because of too many Albert Hitchcock movies as a kid, I still have nightmares. A recurring one is that I enter my house at dark and every light switch I try doesn’t come on. This is weird and I know something evil is watching me. I awaken and am thankful I am back to reality.

Speaking of dreams, does the Bible does address some? Glad you asked.

Ecclesiastes 5:7

For when dreams increase and words grow many, there is vanity; but God is the one you must fear.

Matthew 27:19

Besides, while he was sitting on the judgment seat, his wife sent word to him, “Have nothing to do with that righteous man, for I have suffered much because of him today in a dream.”

Sometimes dreams have a reason, so we do need to consider them at times.

Give it some thought and pleasant dreams.

Don’t Stop

“Many of life’s failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.”                     Thomas A. Edison

Joshua 1:8

This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.

Luke 16:10-11

“One who is faithful in a very little is also faithful in much, and one who is dishonest in a very little is also dishonest in much. If then you have not been faithful in the unrighteous wealth, who will entrust to you the true riches?

Give it some thought and go for it.

Debt

Here’s how to teach your kids about taxes.  Eat 30% of their ice cream.

Then teach them about the national debt and eat most of what’s left.

Speaking of debt, does the Bible address the subject? Glad you asked.

Galatians 5:3

And I testify again to every man who becomes circumcised that he is a debtor to keep the whole law.

I say, “Good luck with keeping the law.”

Romans 8:12-13

Therefore, brethren, we are debtors—not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh.

For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.

A hymn says it this way:

I had a debt I could not pay,
He paid the debt He did not owe,
I needed someone,
To wash my sins away.
And now I sing a brand-new song,
“Amazing grace” all day long,
Christ Jesus paid the debt,
That I could never pay.

Give it some thought.

Consideration

The world has never had so many counselors and programs to help heal the mind, yet the problem with mental illness grows exponentially. Could it be that we are trying to find the answer in man’s wisdom and leaving God out of the equation? Peace is attainable from a loving Father who offers it to His children willingly.

Isaiah 26:3

You will keep him in perfect peace,
Whose mind is stayed on You,
Because he trusts in You.

John 16:33

I have said these things to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”

The price for peace was paid on Calvary.

Give it some consideration, and know that He will never turn us away no matter how many times we need to come to Him for what He freely gives.

Change

An old friend, who is in his eighties, can’t handle the traffic on the interstate anymore. He drives his age (80) and when cars and trucks are passing him, sweat runs done his face and his hands tremble on the wheel. There was a day when experiencing the danger of piloting an aircraft was exciting and riding a big motorcycle held no fear. Even jungles and snakes were just a part of the environment God had called him to. Those days are gone and he is now a normal 80-something.

Does the Bible address this? Glad you asked.

Ecclesiastes 12:4-5

When the doors are shut in the streets,
And the sound of grinding is low;
When one rises up at the sound of a bird,
And all the daughters of music are brought low.
Also they are afraid of height,
And of terrors in the way;
When the almond tree blossoms,
The grasshopper is a burden,
And desire fails.

If you are not there, you soon will be. This is only part of the course God has set us on. Time brings change God can help us accept.

Give it some thought and you might not want to ride with my friend.

Why

“The two most important days in your life are the day you are born and the day you find out why.”

 – Mark Twain

Jeremiah 1:5

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.”

Find out why you exist here on the planet and then go out there and do something about it.

Give it some careful consideration.

The Bible

The general doctrine of Christians is that the Bible is so inspired by God that it is the infallible guide of men, and is perfectly trustworthy in all its parts, as given by God. On average, there are 100 million Bibles printed each year. It’s projected that there are more than 6 billion Bibles currently in print – 140% more than the estimated 2.5 billion copies in print as of 1975.

Now, if only people would read it, then believe it and follow-up by practicing what it has to say.

2 Timothy 3:16-17

All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.

Give it some careful consideration.
