Sin

I searched the Scriptures and couldn’t find anything about addictions. Then I searched and found one verse on habits. Note the following:

1 Corinthians 15:33

Do not be deceived: “Evil company corrupts good habits.”

Could it be that we are not having much success in recovery programs because the sin issue has to be left out? Does the Bible have a program for sin? Glad you asked.

James 4:17

So whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin.

Romans 6:23

For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

1 John 1:9

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Let the world have their programs, but we, as Christians, have found the One that can free us from bondage.

Give it some thought.

Excuses

My dog ate my homework,” has been an excuse for school children for hundreds of years. However, do you know that when we stand before God, there will be no excuses?

Romans 1:18-20

For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them. For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse,

Give it some consideration.

Love and Light

“Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that.”

― Martin Luther King, Jr.

Martin picked up this important information from principles expressed by God thousands of years ago.

John 3:16

“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.

John 8:12

Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows Me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

He loved us and gave Himself for us. Do you see the love and the light?

Give it some thought.

Leadership

The history of leadership is an interesting study. Both in Biblical history and secular history there have been recordings of more bad leaders than good leaders. Many in our world have lost faith in any leader.

Now the good news is that God has provided a leader for His church who is flawless. He has never sinned and resignation will never be part of His being.

Colossians 1:18

And He is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything He might be preeminent.

Ephesians 1:22, 23

And He put all things under His feet and gave Him as head over all things to the church, For the husband is the head of the wife even as Christ is the head of the church, His body, and is Himsef its Savior.

We will never be disappointed in this One we’ve chosen to lead us.

Give it some thought.

Bread

My breakfast, almost every morning, consists of bread made by my wife, jam made by her and peanut butter the result of some farmer in Georgia. Every morning when asked what I want for breakfast, I ask for the same thing. I never tire of it.

Do you know Jesus illustrated the Word of God, using bread, which is in line with my appetite as well?

Matthew 4:4

But He answered, “It is written, “‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”

John 6:35

Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to Me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in Me shall never thirst.

How do you start your day? Try the Bread of Life.

Give it some thought.

Beaver

Beavers have a translucent third eyelid (called a nictitating membrane) which covers and protects their eyes when they are underwater, while still allowing some sight. Their ears and noses are valvular, meaning they can also be closed when diving underwater.

How many years did it take for evolution to come up with that concept in a beaver? Wouldn’t it make more sense to acknowledge a Creator who designed that animal?

Hebrews 11:3

By faith we understand that the universe was created by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things that are visible.

Colossians 1:16

For by Him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through Him and for Him.

Give it some thought and leave it to beaver.

Skydiving

If at first you don’t succeed… so much for skydiving.

-Henny Youngman

Now think about that statement for some time, because there are situations where you only get one chance. Life can be dangerous if we don’t practice forethought.

Psalm 119:15

I will meditate on Your precepts and fix my eyes on Your ways.

Psalm 49:3

My mouth shall speak wisdom; the meditation of my heart shall be understanding.

Careful out there. Your next step could be your last and then what?

Give it some thought.
