The Bible

The general doctrine of Christians is that the Bible is so inspired by God that it is the infallible guide of men, and is perfectly trustworthy in all its parts, as given by God. On average, there are 100 million Bibles printed each year. It’s projected that there are more than 6 billion Bibles currently in print – 140% more than the estimated 2.5 billion copies in print as of 1975.

Now, if only people would read it, then believe it and follow-up by practicing what it has to say.

2 Timothy 3:16-17

All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.

Give it some careful consideration.

Telling Time

Excuse me, I’m talking to you. Do you know what time it is?

Psalm 31:15

My times are in Your  hand; rescue me from the hand of my enemies and from my persecutors!

Romans 13:11

Besides this you know the time, that the hour has come for you to wake from sleep. For salvation is nearer to us now than when we first believed.

If the brevity of our time here doesn’t concern you, I’m sorry I asked you. But for the rest of you, give this some thought.

Rumors

Have you heard the rumor about butter? Never mind, I shouldn’t be spreading it.

–       Author unknown

Seriously though, you shouldn’t be caught spreading rumors.

Exodus 23:1

“You shall not spread a false report. You shall not join hands with a wicked man to be a malicious witness.

Proverbs 26:20

For lack of wood the fire goes out, and where there is no whisperer, quarreling ceases.

Proverbs 11:13-14

Whoever goes about slandering reveals secrets, but he who is trustworthy in spirit keeps a thing covered. Where there is no guidance, a people falls, but in an abundance of counselors there is safety.

Spread this devotional. Give it some consideration.

Responding

“Life is ten percent what happens to you and ninety percent how you respond to it.”

— Charles Swindoll

Ephesians 4:31-32

Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.

Proverbs 15:1

A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.

Give it some thought.

Pain

Before you see the doctor, the nurse will ask you some questions. Do you have pain anywhere?

The older you get the more pain you have. If it’s not physical, then it could be emotional. I’ll be glad when such an interview will be unnecessary.

Revelation 21:4

He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.”

Romans 8:18

For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us.

This is a future event that I am anticipating through faith in what God says.

Give it some thought.

High Wire

If you are ever entertaining the crowd with a high wire act, make sure you have a safety net. Even the best in the business will fall sometimes and gravity will show no forgiveness.

God calls us to do some scary things but never without a net.

Psalm 91:1-12

He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” For He will deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the deadly pestilence. He will cover you with His pinions, and under His wings you will find refuge; His faithfulness is a shield and buckler. You will not fear the terror of the night, nor the arrow that flies by day, …

Stay up there, but if you fall, He’ll be there to catch you.

Give it some thought.

Woman

As the confirmation hearing for Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson went into hour thirteen, Senator Marsha Blackburn asked the Supreme Court nominee to define the word “woman.”

“I can’t,” Jackson replied.

How can you reach this pinnacle in your career and not be able to answer such a simple question? I would like to send her some verses from the Bible.

Genesis 1:27

So God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.

Genesis 5:2

Male and female, He created them, and He blessed them and named them Man when they were created.

Our generation of baby boomers never had trouble with this question, for a woman is not a man. What’s happening? Read the Bible; it will enlighten you. Give it some thought.
