Did you know that the majority is not always right? It was the majority that cried, “Crucify Him!” the day Jesus died. It was the majority that tried to throw Jesus down a cliff in Nazareth when He preached in the synagogue. The majority of the people refused to enter Canaan at God’s command and caused those who aligned themselves with their rebellion to die in the wilderness.

Believers certainly are not part of a majority.

Matthew 7:13-14

“Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.

Don’t follow the majority just for the sake of expediency.

Let’s start giving back and end up giving back because of what He has given to us.

One of my classes in Bible college had an assignment that required the memorization for the word “world” and here it is: The world is all that floating mass of thought, opinion, maxim, speculation, hopes, impulses, aims, and aspirations which are, at any one time, current in the world. It is impossible to grasp and accurately define that floating mass, but it would constitute a real and most effective power, creating a moral or immoral atmosphere which we inhale every day and exhale every day.

Every human being by nature is influenced by the atmosphere in which he lives. So, what does the Bible say about the world?

1 John 2:15 

Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

1 John 5:19 

We know that we are from God, and the whole world lies in the power of the evil one.

2 Corinthians 4:4 

In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.

We adopt the world’s agenda — just a few years too late. Many churchmen sport theological bell-bottoms.

Matthew 4:4 

But he answered, “It is written, “‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”

You will not catch me with tight jeans and a t-shirt, minus a pulpit, spitting out a verse and diving into the wild blue yonder with my imagination on fire.

I was born in Maine, and if I could have my way, I’d like to die in Maine. This state doesn’t have poisonous snakes or spiders, nor does it have mountain lions or grizzlies that would eat you for dinner. Winters are cold enough to keep the population down. Earthquakes are rare and small. Floods don’t last long. Politicians aren’t so bad. There are nights when you can have I-95 all to yourself. There are lakes and rivers to explore and mountains to hike. Yes, I do love my state.

People want to move to other places and that’s okay. There are some I would like to see move, and I would even help them towards their goal. LOL

I’m content in the state I’m in and that is Biblical.

Philippians 4:11

Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.

Ralph Barton, one of the top cartoonists of the 1900’s, left this note pinned to his pillow before taking his own life: “I have had few difficulties, many friends, great successes; I have gone from wife to wife, from house to house, visited great countries of the world, but I am fed up with inventing devices to fill up twenty-four hours of the day.”

He had gone through four wives and totally rejected Christianity. He crawled under a blanket and put a bullet through his head.

He didn’t miss with his shot, but he did miss the purpose of life. God put us here and He shouldn’t be rejected.

Psalm 57:2 

I cry out to God Most High, to God who fulfills His purpose for me.

Matthew 6:33 

But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

Don’t miss the point of this before something scary enters your head.

The world is truly messed up when it comes to the origin of species. However, I can give you the truth from the source.

Genesis 1:26 

Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”

No need to be conflicted when you hold to the truth.
