D-Day 06-06-44

Most everyone you listen to who has experienced combat will tell you they were afraid. However, they stood their ground and served well.

Judges 7:3

Now therefore, proclaim in the hearing of the people, saying, ‘Whoever is fearful and afraid, let him turn and depart at once from Mount Gilead.’ ” And twenty-two thousand of the people returned, and ten thousand remained.

Gideon was looking for those who overcame their fears.

Life provides spiritual combat. Don’t run away from responsibility because the reward is great, both for the present and for eternity.

How about a hike through the Amazon jungle with a blind guide? No, I think I would pass on that one.

Certainly I would want some serious background on the one directing me.

Matthew 23:24

Blind guides, who strain out a gnat and swallow a camel!

These were very well-schooled academics Jesus was addressing. However when it came to the Word of God, they were brutally deficient.

Who will lead you for life and eternity? Let’s have a look at them.

What is happening in our country is extremely sad.  It is time to take a knee because it is the only answer to our present condition.

Ephesians 3:14

For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,

The context of this verse is found in studying the previous verses. We read of Paul’s personal experience in coming to know Christ.  Christ can change the lives of those opposed to the cross.

It takes more energy to do good than to do evil. If your goal is fruit, then your energy level will be severely taxed.  It was said of Jesus Christ, “He went about doing good (Acts 10:38).”

Galatians 6:9

Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.

It is OK to burn out your candle because the purpose of the candle is to give light for others.

Trials here are sometimes many
And at times my feet grow weary
Till it seems I’ll almost stumble then and fall
But the tender hand that leads me
Is the hand that keeps me steady
And by faith I know I’ll make it after all

Life is made up of events like this one in the life of Christ.

Matthew 8:24

And suddenly a great tempest arose on the sea, so that the boat was covered with the waves. But He was asleep.

Jesus knew the storm was there, but it had a purpose and He could rest in the plan and protection of God the Father.

Let us, as believers, rest in the Father’s will, for sometimes the storm rages around us also.

The church is not a building according to the Scripture.  It is a living organism made up of every blood-bought believer in Jesus Christ. It is also not an organization run by old, white-haired men that resemble me. The church is an organism made up of individual believers with Christ as the Head.

1 Timothy 3:15
but if I am delayed, I write so that you may know how you ought to conductyourself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.

In this special arena, which is headed by Jesus Christ who promised to build it, we should act according to its Biblical standards as outlined in Scripture.

There is a multitude of resentment today against all news outlets. Some politicians and pundits regularly use the term fake news. This is not a new phenomenon but has its origin in the garden over six millennia ago.

Romans 1:18

For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness,

The truth is easily suppressed when we are ignorant of the Word of God. Make sure you are familiar with the Word and hold all statements up against its light.
