Ships at a distance have every man’s wish on board.
— Zora Neale Hurston
Zora didn’t have everything right, but that one was nailed. Hurston uses distant ships as a symbol for human desires, hopes, and distant possibilities. Are you waiting for a ship to come in that will always remain at a distance? If that’s the case, your eyes are on the wrong things. A mirage is just a mirage.
Here’s a reality:
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.
Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established.
Forget the distant ships. God is waiting for you to board His vessel. Give it some thought.
