I don’t use the NIV regularly, but I appreciate the way in which they translate the following verse.
Romans 12:1
“Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God-this is your spiritual act of worship.”
Let’s look at the parts of our bodies God addresses that represent true worship.
Our mind – Philippians 2:5 Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus.
Our ears – James 1:19 Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger;
Our mouths – Ephesians 4:29 Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers.
Our tongues – Matthew 12:36 “But I tell you that everyone will have to give account on the day of judgment for every empty [or careless/idle] word they have spoken.”
Our heart – 1 Peter 3:4 …let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God.
Our eyes – Psalm 119:18 Open my eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of Your law.
Our hands – Colossians 3:23 Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men,
Our feet – 2 Corinthians 5:7 for we walk by faith, not by sight.
Are you ready to worship? You have the tools in your body. Give it some consideration.
