Once the Devil was walking along with one of his cohorts. They saw a man ahead of them pick up something shiny. “What did he find?” asked the cohort. “A piece of the truth,” the Devil replied. “Doesn’t it bother you that he found a piece of the truth?” asked the cohort. “No,” said the Devil, “I will see to it that he makes a religion out of it.”

Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.

Psalm 25:5 

Lead me in your truth and teach me, for you are the God of my salvation; for you I wait all the day long.

Read your Bible. Don’t be taken in by a piece of the truth.

According to two University of Louisville scientists, 13 percent of all coins and 42 percent of paper money carry infectious organisms. I read that and wondered how many infectious organisms my wife came into contact with by living in a family of 15, milking cows, changing diapers, teaching for 35 years and being in contact with someone from Allagash for 55 years.

No, that discovery didn’t cause me to take any precautions in handling money or my wife.  It’s not an organism that concerns me but an organization called the church which can be so dangerous for some, even me.

Matthew 7:15 

“Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves.

Colossians 2:8 

See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the world, and not according to Christ.

The church contains some critters you just don’t want to allow contact with. Protect yourself and use a credit card as much as possible.

Hebrews 12:5-7

And have you forgotten the exhortation that addresses you as sons? “My son, do not regard lightly the discipline of the Lord, nor be weary when reproved by Him. For the Lord disciplines the one He loves, and chastises every son whom He receives.” It is for discipline that you have to endure. God is treating you as sons. For what son is there whom his father does not discipline?

It is estimated that over 500,000 Americans have counterfeit diplomas or credentials. Counterfeit diplomas and credentials represent a massive, growing, multi-billion-dollar global industry, with significant impact in the United States. Experts estimate that there are over 5,000 active diploma mills, 1,500 accreditation mills, and over 500 fake diploma websites, with recent scams involving thousands of fraudulent, high-level nursing degrees.

Did you know the Church has the same problem as the world? The fakes are a constant source of irritation for the great commission.

2 Corinthians 11:13-15 

For such men are false apostles, deceitful workmen, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ. And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. So, it is no surprise if his servants, also, disguise themselves as servants of righteousness. Their end will correspond to their deeds.

Matthew 24:24 

For false christs and false prophets will arise and perform great signs and wonders, so as to lead astray, if possible, even the elect.

Make sure your hires are well vetted. Give it some thought.

Have you ever been wounded by your own? I have in my five decades of being a Christian. They never killed me, but sometimes it came close (spiritually speaking).  It hasn’t stopped me, though; I’m still active.

The Apostle Paul mentions that phenomena many times in his writings.

1 Corinthians 9:1-2

Am I not free? Am I not an apostle? Have I not seen Jesus our Lord? Are not you my workmanship in the Lord? If to others I am not an apostle, at least I am to you, for you are the seal of my apostleship in the Lord.

Galatians 1:10

For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ.

Now these are believers he is writing to. Some of whom he’d even led to the Lord.

It’s not just the enemy you have to worry about. Sometimes even around Christians you have to duck. Give it some thought.

Around 125 A.D., a Greek by the name of Aristeides wrote to one of his friends, trying to explain the extraordinary success of the new religion, Christianity. In his letter he said, “If any righteous man among the Christians passes from this world, they rejoice and offer thanks to God, and they accompany his body with songs and thanksgiving as if he were setting out from one place to another nearby.”

That should be the testimony of the Church in the 21st century. Have we lost something?

Revelation 21:4 

He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.”

Luke 23:43 

And He said to him, “Truly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in paradise.”

John 11:26 

And everyone who lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?”

“Don’t trust anyone over thirty” was a famous 1960s counterculture slogan, coined by activist Jack Weinberg during the Free Speech Movement, symbolizing distrust of the establishment. These people are now over eighty-years-old. God laughs at such foolishness.

Daniel 4:3 

How great are His signs, how mighty His wonders! His kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and His dominion endures from generation to generation.

Acts 2:40 

And with many other words he bore witness and continued to exhort them, saying, “Save yourselves from this crooked generation.”

Here you are in just another generation created by God. Give it some thought.
