“Wings of a Dove’ is a country song written by Bob Ferguson in 1958. It was popularized when it was recorded by Ferlin Husky in 1960. His recording topped the country charts for 10 nonconsecutive weeks. One line of that old song sticks to my bones:

When troubles surround us
When evils come
The body grows weak
The spirit grows numb
When these things beset us
He doesn’t forget us
He sends down His love
On the wings of a dove

Tribulation in many forms is promised to us who live under the sun. However, for those who live under the Son, there is always help. Always consider this ancient truth.

John 16:33 

I have said these things to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”

I step into my storage shed and stare blankly into space. The question on my mind is, “What did I come here for?” Seems like at this juncture in my life, thoughts are hard to hold. Understandable, I guess, while floating down the river of time.

Sure am glad God doesn’t have those problems with His thoughts.

Psalm 139:17-18

How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God!
How great is the sum of them!
If I should count them, they would be more in number than the sand;
When I awake, I am still with You.

Isaiah 55:8-9

 “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways, declares the Lord. As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts.”

God is thinking about you, but are you thinking about Him? Give it some thought and don’t forget it.

I remember being in the third grade and looking out the window to the field and the woods in the back of the school. The truant officer was chasing a boy who probably figured fishing was preferable to school. Many years later the Viet Cong were chasing him through the jungle of South Viet Nam. I believed he spent a lifetime of being hounded by something. He left this earth a few years back, and I would like to think the love of Christ caught up to him before he left.

While I’m on the subject, has the love of God caught up with you?

Romans 5:8 

But God shows His love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Zephaniah 3:17 

The Lord your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness; He will quiet you by His love; He will exult over you with loud singing.

If God is after you, quit running and let Him have His way. Give it some thought.

The video shows officers quickly surrounding the vehicle after the K-9 had entered the car, which enabled them to safely take the driver into custody.

Nothing will sober you up faster than a 60-pound German Shepherd flying through your window. Police K-9s are specially trained negotiators. After multiple warnings, officers deployed K-9 Midas through the driver’s side window. The results were predictable.

“The Hound of Heaven” is a famous 182-line religious poem by English writer Francis Thompson. Published in 1890, it describes a soul running away from God. God is the hound who chases the person with steady, slow, and certain steps. In the end, the soul realizes it cannot hide and finds love.

Luke 19:10 

For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”

When I was in bad shape and lawless, He came thru my window. Give it some thought.
